On Friday, July 20, 2012…my nephew was on his way to work. It was raining and foggy. He approached a train crossing. No sounds no lights. So he proceeded as normal. He was struck by a passing train. His 2005 Ford Explorer XLS was flipped onto it’s roof and spun around 4 times before coming to rest in a ditch. He walked away with just a scratch on his side from the seatbelt and a brush burn on his arm from the airbag deploying. He posted the following on his facebook page:
THEY ARE NOT LYING WHEN THEY SAY BUILT FORD TOUGH, THANKS TO THE FORD MANUFACTURERS FOR BUILDING A TOUGH SOLID VEHICLE I’M STILL HERE TODAY

This is one of the reasons my husband and I are Ford owners. Thank you for building a quality vehicle…and thank you for my nephew!!! I am attaching a photo of the front of the car. The young man standing beside it is my nephew.
